An extension to a fitout we did a few years ago this space needed a relationship with the adjacent fitout, but was to have greater flexibility whilst being casual + fun. Aside from working within the existing building’s envelope, as an extension to a previous fitout there needed to be an easy flow from old to new.
 
In pragmatic terms, the space needed to accommodate offices, meeting rooms, hot desks + a corporate hospitality area, but the client’s brief to us is always that he wants to be surprised + amazed by what we create.
 
The design successfully blends the pragmatic requirements of an office whilst meeting the client’s brief for a dynamic, relaxed and unique staff hospitality area, a backyard feel without being twee. The design seamlessly combines folly with serious architecture from the spatial breakdown through to the joinery detailing + finishing.
 
Many of the partitions in this space have been designed in glass to make the office feel as open as possible with modesty panels in decorative vinyl where required. Lighting are used to enhance the available natural light, in particular the use of coloured LED lights and a light wall in the land locked central boardroom. A focal point of the design is the staff room, plant walls, putting holes, swings and garden seating add to a smart + contemporary space that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
 
This design successfully makes its own mark within an existing building envelope whilst connecting with the adjacent tenancy fitout.
